Nellie Hermann is a graduate of Brown University and has an M.F.A. from the Columbia University School of the Arts. Her short story, "Can We Let the Baby Go?" won first prize in the 2008 Glimmer Train Family Matters Competition and will be published in November, 2009. Her first novel, The Cure for Grief, will be out in paperback from Scribner in August. She works as a writing teacher in the Program in Narrative Medicine at Columbia Medical School, and conducts writing workshops with a variety of health professionals.
